Scientific Lightning Solutions, LLC is a growing business based in Titusville, Florida. The SLS team is composed of scientists and engineers with extensive experience in the design of specialized lightning location, monitoring, and protection systems. SLS customers span a variety of markets, including green energy, aerospace, insurance, oil and gas, power generation and government entities such as DoD, FAA, DoE and NASA.

SLS is looking for a dynamic individual to lead Business Development for our lightning monitoring, lightning protection and lightning testing products. This individual is results driven with a passion for hunting for business. The successful candidate will have a strong background in sales, be comfortable with technical products and have existing connections in one of more of the SLS target markets. The individual will demonstrate persuasiveness, confidence and assertiveness; will work independently and with little direction; will persevere in difficult or complicated situations. The individual will demonstrate excellent organization skills and proficiency in sales management tools.


  • Personally prospect, identify and qualify new accounts using outbound calls, emails and face to face meetings
  • Hunt for new business through industry websites, trade shows, industry relationships and management suggestions
  • Constantly data mine to source new leads, identify key players and generate interest
  • Develop relationships with existing customers to organically grow sales
  • Build and maintain a customer/contact database
  • Conduct market research and competitor and customer analysis
  • Develop promotional ideas and material
  • Plan and conduct direct marketing activities
  • Make sales calls to new and existing clients
  • Attend trade meetings and industry conventions
  • Cultivate relationships with executive decision makers in key accounts
  • Develop presentations of company products and services to current and potential clients
  • Negotiate with clients
  • Develop sales proposals and prepare and present sales contracts
  • Maintain sales activity records and reports
  • Ensure customer service satisfaction and good client relationships
  • Follow up on sales activity
  • Carry out market research and surveys
  • Measure your own performance and seek performance feedback to continuously improve
  • Meet all deadlines and goals
  • Investigate lost sales
  • Clearly articulate and follow a sales process that establishes daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly goals


  • ‬‬Bachelors Degree or higher
  • ‬‬Minimum 7 years’ experience in sales account management
  • ‬‬Minimum 5 years’ experience working in or selling to one of SLS’s core markets
  • ‬‬Resident of Central Florida preferred but not required
  • ‬‬Demonstrated contacts and connections to key companies in SLS’ target markets
  • ‬‬Ability to travel and work some weekends when necessary
  • ‬‬Professional presentation and listening skills
  • ‬‬Proven ability to achieve sales targets
  • ‬‬Experience in all aspects of planning and implementing sales strategy
  • ‬‬Formal sales process training and demonstrated technical sales skills
  • ‬‬Knowledge of market research
  • ‬‬Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations‬‬‬‬
  • ‬‬Experience in managing and directing a sales team
  • ‬‬Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite software applications
  • ‬‬Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Position requires a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. ‬‬ Some overnight travel both domestically and internationally required. Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
