SpaceX recently leased the historic Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) from NASA. LC-39A was previously home to the Apollo moon missions and many Space Shuttle flights. SpaceX plans to fly their Falcon 9, Falcon 9 Heavy, and eventually, human rated vehicles from LC-39A. SLS was tasked by SpaceX to design an addition to the existing lightning protection system at LC-39A to ensure that their launch vehicles and payloads are safely protected.
The SLS Team has many decades of lightning monitoring, lightning protection, and lightning testing experience. We apply state-of-the-art lightning research to engineering solutions.Request Information
