Over time, grounding systems at industrial and power generation facilities can become compromised due to environmental effects, heavy equipment damage, new construction additions, and other factors. It is important to perform periodic inspections and measurements on the grounding system to verify the system has not been degraded and is capable of safely dissipating lightning currents.

SLS recently performed a grounding inspection at a critical power generation facility in Georgia. The customer wanted to verify that the grounding pigtails were not damaged and were correctly bonded to the grounding grid. SLS used a combination of bonding and loop resistance measurements to pinpoint areas of the facility that required further attention.
