SLS SUPPORTS JPSS-2 LAUNCH FROM VANDENBERG SFB

SLS provided a Jupiter Transient Monitoring System (TMS) to monitor the JPSS-2 (Joint Polar Satellite System-2) spacecraft and Atlas V launch vehicle that successfully launched from SLC-3E at Vandenberg Space Force Base last week.

The Jupiter TMS was installed on the mobile launch platform along with SLS’ electric and magnetic field sensors to monitor the lightning electromagnetic environment in the vicinity of the spacecraft. JPSS-2 is the second of NOAA’s latest generation polar-orbit environmental monitoring satellites.
